Juniors on the Move is an introductory level program aimed at children aged between 7-13 years who can complete 9 holes on a modified golf course.
Juniors on the Move
Juniors On the Move (JOM) is the perfect introduction to competitive golf for children aged between 6 and 14.
Nine-hole tournaments are held once a month across New South Wales and are ideal for kids who have completed golf clinic programs and are now ready to take the next step up in their golfing development.
At JOM, children will learn how to play the game on a golf course, the rules of golf as well as the important ingredient of etiquette.
Children will receive an accredited Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) 9-hole handicap. They will use this handicap throughout the year and learn how the handicapping system works. Having a handicap gives the children an easily understandable guide to how their skill level is progressing. When they play well their handicap improves, thus providing an instant resource for encouragement and development.
While we support each player’s improvement, the underlying emphasis at Juniors on the Move is about playing golf in a fun and supportive environment. Prizes are awarded at every JOM tournament and there are also opportunities for further development through our complimentary School Holiday clinic run by golfing professionals.
The Juniors on the Move handicapping system is recognised by the Primary School Sports Association and other golfing bodies as an official 9 Hole Handicap for Juniors, allowing them to play in school golf events and State Carnivals. Juniors on the Move had over 460 registered players in 2023 and is the first step in the world-recognised Jack Newton Junior Golf development pathway.
Children progress through our junior programs and then on to the more elite post-junior events and programs conducted by Golf NSW. You can see our development pathway by clicking HERE.
