Hunter Region Juniors Shine
Three of our local junior golfers have experienced a successful few months.
Recently held PSSA Championships saw the Hunter region perform their best in recent years while team members Jacob Dundas, Brij Ingrey and Damon Green finished the event 1st, 5th & 6th respectively.
These results qualified the juniors for the NSW Primary Schools State Team which competes at the Australian School Sports Association Golf Championships during November with host club being Newcastle Golf Club.
This achievement provided great excitement for local golf club, Toronto, which is where all three juniors have learnt their skills. Club professional Darren Green has provided sound stepping-stones of growth for the juniors in their early years.
The three juniors love their golf, however they continue with a variety of sports, Jacob and Damon –Soccer, while Brij –AFL.
The achievements have been acknowledged by Hunter Primary School Sports Association. Sports awards are given to those students who have achieved outstanding success in their chosen sport with the award limited to two boys and two girls per sport.
Achievement awards recognise those students who have represented the Hunter in more than one sport while a Recognition award goes to those students who have previously won Sports Awards and continue to achieve at a similar high level or to a sporting team who has had success in their state-wide competition.
