De Groot Scholarship
The De Groot Scholarship has been kindly donated by the De Groot family over the last few years. The scholarship is given to a junior girl in the Women's Golf Central North Coast district (Woolgoolga to Bulahdelah) to support them financially to develop their golf game . The financial assistance given each year can be used to either buy equipment, or used for golf lessons etc to assist in their development.
The De Groot's have had their own daughter Emma progress from a junior in the CNC district to now being a professional on the LPGA tour. They understand the commitment required from parents to support their child to develop their game and this is their way of giving back to the sport and the CNC district after years of support while Emma was a junior.
Last weekend the scholarship was awarded to Tayla Reeves (Forster/Tuncurry) after her final round in the club championships, Tayla has been playing at a competitive level since 13 years of age and has progressed from a beginner to her current handicap of 14.5.
Tayla (aged 16) is currently in Year 11 at Great Lakes College and works part time at the Forster Tuncurry Golf Driving Range.
Last year Tayla was the 2014 Division 1 Nett Ladies Champion and the Female Junior Champion at Forster/Tuncurry.
Tayla has been a regular participant at the CNC's golf development camps and tournaments for many years and was the Districts Junior Girl Champion Gross Runner up in 2014 also.
She is a great ambassador for the sport. Congratulations Tayla!
