Queanbeyan Junior Open
The Queanbeyan Junior open was held on Sunday May 3rd with a field of 51 competitors from the local area and as far as Goulburn and Moruya.
The four divisions played were Men’s Under 24 Colts, Boy’s Under 18 Juniors and Girls Under 18 Juniors and a Sub Junior 8 hole event. Queanbeyan was again well represented with Lachlan Tisma, Blake Christofersen, Lachlan Wall, Trent Britton, Amber Thornton, Mitchell O’Brien, and Harry Smith. They also had Trenae Morshead and Josh De Jongh in the Sub Juniors.
Congratulations go to Lachlan Tisma who defended his under 24 Colts gross title with a score of 71, Amber Thornton won the under 18 girls gross with a score of 82. Well done to those competitors. A special mention to Arthur Walters who founded the event 37 years ago. His presence on Sunday was warmly welcomed as Arthur stayed and watched all the competitors tee off and congratulated the winners at the end of play. These events wouldn’t be possible without the help of volunteers, Gail Goiser who helped organise and run the day, Malcolm Towney for cooking the BBQ, and Jake Nagle for the presentations.
