Golf in the PE Pulse Network
For almost 18 months now ACT Sport and Recreation have been working on a project to improve primary school physical education as part of the ACT Government Healthy Weight Initiative.
The project is called the PE Pulse Network and the vision is for the network to provide:
For teachers and schools: Support and capacity for teachers to deliver physical activity within the school environment where it is highly prioritized and valued within the school culture.
For the community: Sporting organisations and schools opportunity to work together in partnership to achieve high levels of awareness, involvement and participation in physical activity within their communities.
And for sport and physical activity providers: Sporting organisations and physical activity providers opportunity to work together to increase participation in high quality physical activity in schools.
The PE Pulse Network will increase access for sporting organisations to schools, through providing a new website/portal hosted by the Physical Activity Foundation. This will enable schools to search and contact sporting organisations for delivery of their respective sport.
In addition, the PE Pulse Network held a participation day at Tuggeranong Multisport Indoor Facility on Tuesday 28 October 2014.
JNJG in conjunction with the ACT Monaro DGA provided golf activities for the students. Sixty-five students from Macgregor Primary School and Aranda Primary School experienced putting, chipping, hitting and playing a modified golf course during the day.
A participation pack was delivered to each student and school, which included a promotional flyer detailing of junior programs available at Magpies Belconnen, Gold Creek, Gungahlin Lakes and Yowani.
