Golf Program at NIAS
Applications are now OPEN for the 2016-2017 Northern Inland Academy Golf Program. They have revamped their program and it is exciting opportunity for juniors to be involved in this.
The Golf program will have two Tiers:
Tier 1 Athletes
The Tier 1 Golf Squad will be available to athletes on a handicap of 15 or below. Tier 1 athletes will receive:
- High level coaching support
- Bathurst trip including high performance Golf clinic
- An Inter Academy training weekend in Newcastle with high performance coaching
- Compete at Academy Games on the Central Coast
- Life skills GROWTH workshops
- Sports science testing support
- NIAS clothing package
Tier 2 Athletes
The Tier 2 Golf Squad will be available on a handicap between 15-25. Tier 2 athletes will receive:
- High level coaching support including training camp
- Life skills GRWOTH workshops
- Reduced costs of program
- Sports science testing support
- NIAS clothing package
- Reduced costs of program and clothing
All athletes to commit to an end of year tour style trip
Skill sessions and camps are held within the region throughout November to November. The skills program follows a structured approach concentrating on a range of individual skills and development. Fitness sessions focus on the importance of building core strength to improve posture, balance and technique.
In February athletes will attend the NIAS Induction/GROWTH Day. This program covers education sessions on Goal Setting, Resilience, Opportunities beyond sport, Wellness and Nutrition management, TV, radio and print media and healthy mind healthy body.
In August, all athletes will attend the NIAS Academy Awards night which is a celebration of all athletes, managers and coaches achievements throughout the program year.
