Robbo has Inaugural Win at Kyogle

On a wet and uncomfortable day in the Kyogle Shire, Jack Harlen-Robertson (Lismore) held his nerve and his damp grips together to deliver a fine 1 under par score of 69 for his inaugural win in the Junior Boys Gross event.  Jack has been ever present on the NRDGA circuit for quite a few years now and was previously one of the “gun” 9 holers on the Order of Merit circuit.  In donning the traditional Kyogle Green Jacket (see photo), it seems the “Northern Rivers pathway” is continuing to deliver.

Whilst we had a few last minute cancellations due to the inclement weather, the crowd of almost 40 players from Ballina, Byron Bay, Coraki, Coolangatta-Tweed Heads, Kyogle, Lismore, Maclean, Murwillumbah, Ocean Shores, Yamba and Southport enjoyed one of the most sociable venues on the Northern Rivers circuit.

Jack’s round was 2 shots better than Alex Hunt (Murwillumbah) with Isaac Outridge (CTH) and Connor Whitelock (Byron Bay) a further 2 shots back.  The Junior Boys nett division was won by Jayme Walters (Kyogle) showing that local knowledge can be the difference.  Another player to break his handicap was Reilly Wunderlich (Yamba) showing a good return to form.

The Cadet Boys Order of Merit Series is showing all the signs of a classic 'not decided until the last putt on the last hole' outcome.  Jack Ross (CTH) and Sam Adams (CTH) seem to be opening up a bit of a break in the boys gross division but there are 11 boys within 10 points of the leader in the Cadet Boys nett division.  Jack Ross (CTH) took out the chocolates at Kyogle with another astonishing round of 39 shots for 9 holes.  Fletcher Muldoon (CTH) was another consistent performer to finish with 43 shots.  Luke Ross (CTH) took out the cadet Boys nett division.

Charlize Spain (Southport) was also a winner of the Kyogle Green Jacket and was a welcome return visitor to our circuit.

Elly Petersen (CTH) was able to hold her consistent form together to win the Cadet Girls gross division from Lily Ulrick (Ocean Shores).  Stella Payne (Ballina) held off sister Franceska to win the Cadet Girls nett division.

Callum Wines (CTH) and Tom Relph had to be congratulated for venturing out into the weather to play in the Tyro-5 event.

The Kyogle Golf Club received many plaudits from all players and parents for the way they made us all welcome – and the Mothers Day gifts were a special highlight.
