MyGolf Illawarra Program
In 2014 JNJG hosted the inaugural JNJG Junior AM at The Grange Golf Club. The event was a huge success and raised over $12,000 for junior golf in the Illawarra Region. With the funds raised from this event Golf Illawarra in conjunction with JNJG have developed a MyGolf program to run across all of the clubs in the Illawarra and Southern Highlands region.
The program runs for 10 weeks offering clinics to kids all over the region. The program started on February 7th and runs until 19th April. The clinics are held on various days and times with some clubs even running two clinics per week. The 10 clubs participating in the program are Russell Vale, Wollongong, The Grange, Port Kembla, The Links Shell Cove, Jamberoo, Kiama, Highlands, Moss Vale, Mt Broughton.
At the affordable price of just $80 per child for a 10-week program it has proven popular with over 40 juniors registered. All participants also receive a MyGolf participant pack, which includes a 7 iron, a ball, a hat and a bag. The program is open to all ages and abilities.
Participants learn various skills from putting to chipping to long game. It is a great opportunity for the children to get a taste of golf and hopefully keep them interested in the sport.
This program is the first stage in the Golf Illawarra Junior Development Plan. The next stage to implement will be the Illawarra Beginners Golf Program which all the juniors involved in the 10 week MYGolf Program will get free entry into golf courses across the region so they can put their skills into practice on the course and become regular players.
The 2015 JNJG Junior AM will be held on Monday 29th June at Port Kembla Golf Club with all funds raised going to continuing the development of junior golf in the region.
