2015 Southern District Challenge
On the weekend of 25-27 September 2015 a group of 28 Yowani junior players, mums, dads and grandparents visited Howlong Country Club to contest the second playing of the Southern District Challenge Cup. The Howlong Country Club were most welcoming and provided us with great accommodation at the club as well as providing a Welcome BBQ on the Friday night and a sausage sizzle prior to departure on the Sunday.
On the Saturday we played in the local competition with our junior players and supporters playing in mixed groups with Howlong Juniors and members. The Yowani players used the Saturday round as a good warm up and course familiarisation for the Sunday main event. The Howlong Country Club course was in very good condition and the weather was delightful.
On the Sunday we had 11 pairs playing match play for the Southern District Challenge Trophy. In a thrilling and tough contest Yowani won 6 matches to 4 with one match halved. The quality of golf from both teams was of a high standard and played in great spirit with the majority of the matches in the balance for most of the day.

It was a most enjoyable weekend and I would like to acknowledge the hospitality of the Howlong Country Club and in particular Ken Walton (President) and Janet Rogers (Junior Manager). All of the Yowani delegation had an enjoyable time and represented Yowani Country Club with distinction.
We look forward to hosting Howlong Country Club next year for the 3rd edition of the Southern District Challenge Trophy.
