The blossoming career of Griffith junior golfer Jake Harrison has received another boost after he was awarded the Titleist/FootJoy Scholarship for 2015.

The scholarship is handed out to one junior in each NSW golf district through the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation and provides recipients with products such as balls, shoes, gloves and caps for a year.

Harrison, who plays off a handicap of six, also holds a Southern Academy of Sport Scholarship and is rapidly developing his skills on the fairways.

Griffith Golf Club professional Wayne Rostron coaches Harrison and said the Griffith High student had improved all facets of his game.

“He’s jumped up to the next level and has got a little bit bigger and stronger this year,” he said.

“You can see the difference that’s made.

“His swing has developed from one that looks like a junior swing to one that looks like an adult’s swing, which is good.

“He’s stronger, longer and more consistent now.

“He’s going really well at the moment.”

In March, Harrison demonstrated his ability by winning the amateur A grade section of the Wagga Pro-Am.

The next big event for the talented teenager is the Griffith Golf Club Championships on his home course in October.
