Central Coast Academy of Sports Awards Night
The Central Coast Academy of Sport held their annual awards dinner last week and two of the athletes in the Golf Program were rewarded for their excellent achievements throughout the year.
The Golf Encouragement Award was awarded to Jye Crowe:
Jye is a determined competitor who never stops trying. He is respectful and always listens. He has dropped from an 18.0 handicap to a 10.7 mark during the program this year. Jye who excels not only on the golf course but on the football field and in the surf has been focusing more on his golf lately and it is starting to show in his results.
At the JNJG NSW State Championships he won the14 years Plate for the best Nett. This was after leading in 2015 after 71 holes only to come up short by 2 shots.
Jye was also a member of the Encourage Shield Pennant side who lost at the state final. We are all looking forward to see how much Jye will further improve as he has joined us again for this year’s program.
Dylan Grogan was awarded the Golf Athlete of the Year:
Dylan has been an excellent addition to the 2015/2016 CCAS Golf squad. He has been a keen participant at all squad trainings and always tries his best. He is respectful towards both coach’s volunteers and other squad members. It has been a quick rise for this former NSW State number one baseball catcher who has been playing the game for only two years at the start of the program. He started the program on a 10.2 handicap which had plummeted to 2.5 by the end of it. This rise was validated by his first sub-par round at Wyong in May quite an effort for someone who has played so little golf. Some of his other achievements included; Low Nett round day 1 at The Springs in the Academy Games and 2nd in Nett overall for the Games, selection in the Kooindah Waters junior pennant side, selection in Central Coast District representative squad at the district 4 way at Forster. Dylan's rise can be attributed not only to his raw talent but a strong work ethic. With great expectation we wait and watch to see where it will continue to go.
Congratulations to Jye and Dylan on a fantastic year and we will be watching to see their progress in the future.
