Ocean Shores Set to Host Northern Rivers Junior Masters
(2:00pm - Friday 12th April 2024)
One of the newest events to the JNJG Masters Series, the Northern Rivers Junior Masters has seen more changes to the event than most.
Originally scheduled for the April School Holidays and played at the Ballina Golf Club for many years, the announcement of the NSW Junior Championships moving to the area forced a re-think and date change, with the event moving to July to line up with the State Championships.
2 years of Covid-enforced cancellations which caused the postponement of the State Championships, the event is now finally back in the April School Holidays after a 5-year break, with a new venue all set to host.
Ocean Shores CC most recently played host to the NSW Junior Championships, with the near 60-strong field from right across NSW and QLD set to play one of the most unique layouts in the world. Famous for it's 6-6-6 design, the club has 6 x par 3s, 6 x par 4s and 6 x par 5s, with players starting from the 1st tee never played the same par, two holes in a row.
With many of Australia's best in Perth for the Australian Junior and Interstate Series, whilst many regional NSW Players in Wagga Wagga for the Regional Academy Games, the 60-strong field at Ocean Shores will be out to claim a spot at the prestigious Bonville Champions Trophy in December.
Play begins on Sunday morning at 10am.
