Why Get Your Child Involved in Golf?
In Australia, golf is played year round on over 1,500 courses. It is one of only a handful of sports that can be played as an individual, as a team member, and with your family and friends. It is both highly competitive and extremely social. It appeals to all physical abilities and provides a competition and handicap structure that accommodates play between all ability levels. It’s a sport that builds self-confidence and discipline as well as teaching about fair play and good sportsmanship.
We can help you get your child started in this great game!
Junior Clinics at Local Golf Clubs
Jack Newton Junior Golf works in conjunction with local golf clubs to provide beginner clinics for children. These clinics teach children all about the technique of holding the golf club and the golf swing. Children build confidence as they learn alongside their peers. These clinics are run regularly and provide a fun environment for children to learn the basic skills of the game.

MyGolf Junior League
Once you child has gained confidence in their local golf club junior clinic it is then time to put the skills they have learnt into practise. The next step on JNJG's development pathway is the MyGolf Junior League.
This is a 9 hole inter-club team match play event for players aged approximately 6 -12 years of age who are not yet ready to get a Golf Australia handicap, but are involved in a beginners program. It is played in two person ambrose format played on a shortened course. This is a great way for kids to transition to a real golf course as well as meeting new friends from neighbouring junior clinics.

Juniors on the Move
Children who are now ready to start regular competitive play will then move onto our grassroots program, Juniors on the Move. It is an introductory level program aimed at children aged between 7-14 years who can complete 9 holes on a modified golf course. Nine hole tournaments are held once a month across New South Wales.
At Juniors on the Move, children will learn how to play the game on a golf course, the rules of golf as well as the important ingredient of etiquette. They will also receive an accredited Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) 9 hole handicap. They will use this handicap throughout the year and learn how the handicapping system works.
