Matt Docking Teaches Trinity Students a Thing or Two About Golf
Over recent weeks Trinity Christian School Sports Studies students have participated in a golf module as part of their secondary education. To ensure authenticity and practical experience the Sports Department Head, Mr Mark Vanderstoep organised ‘on course’ tuition and game play for his students to learn the intricacies of golf.
Murrumbidgee Country Club and it’s associated Professional staff generously provided facilities and coaches for Trinity’s purpose. Matt Docking, resident Professional delivered two sessions of full shot coaching. The students also learned chipping and putting skills at the course.
After learning the basics of golf the students attended Canberra International Pitch’n’Putt as a way of consolidating their skills and experiencing first hand the joys of golf.
The final session of the golf module was again held at Murrumbidgee with the students playing the very popular short course.
'Tee it Up', A Guide to Club Golf booklet was provided to the students, aiding them in their understanding of golf. As we know, to the unfamiliar person rules of golf and it associated, dress codes and etiquette can sometimes seem quirky.
I am certain from their experience the students were able to learn and experience much about the game of golf that they would not ordinarily have had the opportunity to do.
